විශාඛා විද්‍යාලයේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ ගායනා කණ්ඩායම තායිලන්තයේ පැවති වොයේජ් ඔෆ් සිංස් ජාත්‍යන්තර තරඟයේදී රන් පදක්කම් තුනක්, කාණ්ඩ ශූරයා (සමාන හඬ) ශූරතාව සහ හොඳම කොන්දොස්තර සම්මානය දිනා ගනිමින් විශිෂ්ට දක්කම් දැක්විය.

රොහාන් ද ලැනරෝල්ගේ මඟ පෙන්වීම යටතේ, විනිසුරුවන් සහ ප්‍රේක්ෂකයින් ආකර්ෂණය කරගත් ප්‍රබල රංගනයන් ඉදිරිපත් කළ අතර එය පාසලට සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ආඩම්බර මොහොතක් සනිටුහන් කළේය.

විශාඛා විද්‍යාලය ප්‍රධාන කාණ්ඩ තුනකින් ජයග්‍රහණය කළේය:

ඔවුන්ගේ ප්‍රසංගයට ශ්‍රී ලාංකික නිර්මාපක රුක්ෂාන් පෙරේරා විසින් ගායනා කරන ලද එක මවකගේ දරුවෝ, නෙරන්ජන් ද සිල්වා විසින් විශේෂයෙන් සකස් කරන ලද, ඩොරති හෝන් විසින් ගායනා කරන ලද I Got Rhythm සහ Moses Hogan විසින් ගායනා කරන ලද Music Down in My Soul හි විචිත්‍රවත් ගායනා ඇතුළත් විය. තේරීම ගායනා කණ්ඩායමේ බහුකාර්යතාව, තාක්ෂණික නිරවද්‍යතාව සහ චිත්තවේගීය ගැඹුර ප්‍රදර්ශනය කළේය.

විදුහල්පතිනි මනෝමි සෙනෙවිරත්න මහත්මිය මෙම ජයග්‍රහණය ගැන ආඩම්බර වෙමින් මෙසේ පැවසුවාය, “අපගේ සිසුන් ඔවුන්ගේ සංගීත කුසලතා ප්‍රදර්ශනය කළා පමණක් නොව, කැපවීම, කණ්ඩායම් හැඟීම සහ නිහතමානිකම යන වටිනාකම් ද ආරක්ෂා කර ඇත.”

ගායන අධ්‍යක්ෂ රොහාන් ද ලැනරෝල් තවදුරටත් මෙසේ පැවසීය, “මෙම ජයග්‍රහණය තරුණ ශ්‍රී ලාංකික සංගීතඥයින්ගේ ආත්මය සහ විභවය පිළිබිඹු කරයි. ගැහැණු ළමයින්ට මඟ පෙන්වීම සහ අපගේ පාසලට සහ ජාතියට ආඩම්බරයක් ගෙන ඒම සතුටක්.”

ගුරුවරිය භාර නිමනි බස්නායක, සිසුන්ගේ එකමුතුකම සහ විනය ගැන සඳහන් කළ අතර, ගායන නායිකා සහ ප්‍රධාන ශිෂ්‍ය මනේකා ගෝමස් පැවසුවේ, “ජාත්‍යන්තරව විශාඛා විද්‍යාලය නියෝජනය කර එවැනි ගෞරව දිනා ගැනීම සැබවින්ම නිහතමානී දෙයකි.”

මෙම ත්‍යාගශීලී ජයග්‍රහණය ගෝලීය වශයෙන් ඉහළම පාසල් ගායන කණ්ඩායම් අතර විශාඛා විද්‍යාලයේ ස්ථානය තහවුරු කරන අතර ශ්‍රී ලාංකික ගායන විශිෂ්ටත්වය සඳහා නව ප්‍රමිතියක් සකසයි.

The Senior Choir of Visakha Vidyalaya has made history at the Voyage of Songs International competition in Thailand, securing three Gold Medals, the Category Champion (Equal Voice) title, and the Best Conductor award on their international debut.

Under the expert direction of Rohan de Lanerolle, the choir delivered powerful performances that captivated judges and audiences alike, marking a proud moment for both the school and Sri Lanka.

Visakha Vidyalaya triumphed in three key categories:

Gold – Chamber Choir

Gold – Equal Voice

Gold – Folklore

Category Champion – Equal Voice

Best Conductor – Rohan de Lanerolle

Their repertoire included Eka Mawakage Daruwo by Sri Lankan composer Rukshan Perera, specially arranged by Neranjan de Silva, along with vibrant renditions of I Got Rhythm by Dorothy Horn and Music Down in My Soul by Moses Hogan. The selection showcased the choir’s versatility, technical precision, and emotional depth.

Principal Mrs. Manomi Seneviratne expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “Our students have not only showcased their musical talent but also upheld the values of dedication, teamwork, and humility.”

Choir Director Rohan de Lanerolle added, “This victory reflects the spirit and potential of young Sri Lankan musicians. It has been a joy to guide the girls and bring pride to our school and nation.”

Nimani Basnayake, Teacher-in-Charge, noted the students’ unity and discipline, while Choir Leader and Head Girl Manekha Gomez said, “To represent Visakha Vidyalaya internationally and win such honours is truly humbling.”

This groundbreaking win cements Visakha Vidyalaya’s place among the top school choirs globally and sets a new standard for Sri Lankan choral excellence.
